Introduction of PV Systems

Energy development in Syria over the last two decades has been remarkable.
The consumption of electricity almost tripled in the period due to large industrialization and rising living standard.
On the other hand, The Syrian government has keen interests in disseminating technologies necessary for rural developments. Scientific Studies and Research Center (SSRC) took the lead to introduce photovoltaic technology into the country to achieve two main objectives: Settling down the Photovoltaic (PV) technology in the country as an alternative small-scale power supply to grid extension in rural areas in cooperation with Ministries of electricity and Housing, and offering technical and scientific back up to the concerned sectors.
This is achieved through The following fundamental domains:
International cooperation projects. Pilot projects have been conducted in cooperation with JAPAN INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION AGENCY for the "INTRODUCTION OF PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS INTO SYRIAN ARAB REPUBLIC", and with UNDP for the "ASSISTANCE IN DECENTRALIZED RURAL ELECTRIFICATION THROUGH PHOTOVOLTAICS".
-  Laboratory development of PV components.
-  Manufacturing of photovoltaic components and systems.
